Next Level Unlocked

It’s nice having tangible markers of achievement. This is part of a lifetime of learning and sharing.

For years I tried to meditation in the “usual” way. It just wasn’t for me. Antsy, brain bouncing, couldn’t remember mantras, you name it. Instinctive meditation has changed all that for me. It’s about finding your own unique way into relaxed awareness. Inclusive, non-judgemental, joyous, deep. Sometimes rest deeper and more refreshing than sleep!

This is a practice for every day people. You may be surprised once you start exploring, that you’ve been experiencing mini-meditation moments all along!

You can come join me on Saturdays at 10 AM Pacific Time via Zoom for a weekly free drop-in session. Register by sending me an email at info@craftingthespirit.com.

I’m also available on a fee basis for individual meditation coaching and group sessions. I will sometimes incorporate sound experiences, such as monochord, reverie harp, singing bowls, gongs, and other instruments into a session when so moved or requested. Maybe you would like to have a unique gathering with friends or collegues. Part of a self-care session, life event celebration, etc.

I can’t wait to guide others in creating their own instinctive meditation practice. It’s so versatile, rich, and customizable to however one is in this busy world.

Making It Real, Step by Step

What will you do with your sweet imperfect life?

Throughout life, I’ve had this vague vision of how I want to be in the world. To create beauty. Help others. To explore.

A multitude of varied and seemingly unrelated experiences, both personal and professional are amalgamating into something wondrous. Something that feels like home.

This video is an expression of that, in a way. I might be doing it sideways, but I’ve never been known to do things in the expected way. It’s a leap of faith. One of my Oh s**t moments. A commitment to keep moving forward, step by step. Do the next right thing, however small it may be.

It almost didn’t happen. I could see it in my mind almost immediately, in it’s entirety. I started getting bogged down in what I thought were practicalities. How would I film it? Release waivers? And on and on.

Then I wondered about free public domain images. And found some. Created some music. Taught myself a little editing, and released it out into the world.

All of this so I can walk with you as you explore your own way of being in the world, and continue to explore my own.

I can hardly wait to see what happens. For this. For you.

The Importance of Showing Up

It came to me that a good part of being, regardless of what we are doing, is about showing up. Being present with What Is, even when it’s not always what we hope or expect. Being open to what might be waiting to be heard, or done, or felt.

I recently made a committment to myself to do a blog post every week. It’s part of my resolve to get myself out there- to inspire others to join me on this grand adventure of discovery called life.

I didn’t feel words come through me the way I often do, so I looked through old writing of mine. Much of it good, but not the message I want to carry currently.

And sat here some more. Brain bouncing all over the place- flitting from concept to concept like a butterfly. Landing for a bit on light and shadow. Deciding that’s a topic for another time.

It came to me that a good part of being, regardless of what we are doing, is about showing up. Being present with What Is, even when it’s not always what we hope or expect. Being open to what might be waiting to be heard, or done, or felt.

It might not be our best work, or even feel like we’ve done The Thing, but we show up, nonetheless. We sit. We let the mind meander on its own journey. Thoughts surface. Some of them are merely shuffling together of information. Some are seeds to be planted and nurtured for the future. Some are distractions.

And here it is. I showed up. I learned that I can honour a commitment with the best I have to offer in this moment. Sometimes the best we can do is the next right thing.

Instinctive meditation is……

This was the prompt at the end of each of my training sessions. Instinctive meditation is giving yourself permission to embody the joy of being fully alive. It’s not about certain postures, breathing techniques, a specific spiritual practice, or quieting the mind. It’s about setting aside some time to fully allow your body mind to relax, to repair and reset. to simply be.

Here is a sample of what I offer. It’s the Presence script, as transmitted by Camille Maurine, one of the founders of the Radiance Sutras School of Meditation. I’ve included my song “Zephyr” that I wrote as part of the experience.

I facilitate fee-based one on one sessions, and group live experiences, with or without a musical sound experience included.

What Lays Hidden….

I’ve been in dormancy since March it seems.

Not unlike this Calla lily, which has sent up only leaves for years, until now. Dormant in blooming for so long I can no longer remember if it was pink or white when I first brought it into my garden.

It has chosen to burst out of its dormancy in these glorious sunset colours.

So many of us have have been forced into a dormancy of sorts recently.

I’ve delighted in seeing people rediscover things they enjoyed when times were less busy. Things core to their being.

What has been laying dormant in you?

What is longing to burst forth in colourful glory?

What juicy truth is at your center?
